It tells of a woman who is the narrator, who is going through postpartum depression. The story tells of the close-mindedness of how postpartum depression was treated and dealt with by society. Charlotte Perkins-Gilman had a feminist approach to this story, due to the protagonists’ struggles against male thinking and society norms. In the 1890 ‘s women were not allowed to have a voice for themselves, their husbands were the ones that were allowed to make all the decisions in the house. ![]()
